A Younger Reader writes...
When we arrived at Cloverly Hall we were greeted by the local herd of cows that took a liking to our car but not to the horn. After I had had some sandwiches and cake I was led up to the room I would be spending the next 2 nights in. We then made our way down to the lounge where we had a very boring and monotonous talk about the rules and regulations. Then I watched a deeply embarrassing but funny performance by my mum, Vicky and David. After we had been told what activities were on the next day, we made our way back upstairs.
All that Friday night we played (or attempted) 'Goldeneye'. We were woken up by enthusiastic (unlike the rest of us) Mark. I got dressed, still half asleep and stumbled down the stairs to breakfast (late). After a hearty breakfast I went up for a wash and get ready to start the day. We played a game of lacrosse, if you can call it lacrosse (we had 4 people). I then went in for a good lunch and visited the shop. Then we went out to play football on the main field in the back. We played football with people from other groups making it a better game that it would have been (Andy was playing!).
The dinner was a good one, the best thing about it was that I didn't have to sit next to my mum! Later in the lounge there was a series of impossible games especially the one with the envelope and the country. We watched the play and found out why Phil had had a black eye on Friday evening and was as right as rain in the morning. It was a very good play though. The Bonfire was very good except the part where I was made to wave a plastic tray at it after my mum's dismal attempt. The youths then played commandos (girls against boys) where we out-did the girls even though they had about 6 million guarding their base. We retired back to our room after a tiring day and played another night of 'Goldeneye'.
The early morning wake up call was not taken pleasantly. When I had got dressed I went down for breakfast. Cereal, toast, jam, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, the list was endless. After I had eaten my fill I went back up for a wash and to tidy our room (Arrggh!). I attended the session that was done by Andy about sex, drugs and Jesus Christ. It was very interesting discussion.
After the Sunday lunch we had the church service. The bit with pastor Owen was the best. I thought that was a good end to the church weekend.
