| Sundays | Welcome: If you are new to Union Chapel, welcome. Everyone is welcome, whatever your background or beliefs. We hope we are not the sort of church which pounces on you as soon as you walk into the door, but we hope there is a place for everyone whether you just want to come to share our worship, or to be more involved - you can see what’s going on - and we can always do other things if people want it! We do suggest you give us a week or two - we are not what we seem to be on first impressions! The Union Chapel Sunday Our Sunday mornings are divided into two parts: Worship begins at 10am and the formal service lasts approximately 50 minutes, with the communion services being a little longer and the service preceding the Church Business Meeting being a little shorter. Following that we serve coffee and tea, before proceeding to the second part of the morning. Please move promptly to the Small Hall, collect your drink and take it with you to the next session. The second half of the morning - from 11:10am (11:15 on communion Sundays) till 11:50am we split into a number of groups to pursue a variety of interests and activities - practical, theoretical, spiritual and social. Details of what is on offer each Sunday are inside and printed in the weekly notice sheet. Simply collect your coffee and move to the appropriate room. Activities will start "on time" irrespective of who is or is not present! Café, play and crèche: Each week (except on Church Meeting Sundays) the Small Hall will be given over to an informal cafe and crèche whilst the Large Hall will be open for those who simply want to play together. Those who are too young to join in anything else will be cared for and entertained, and those who do not wish to do anything else can simply sit and chat. The Church Meeting: The Church Meeting is the formal decision-making body at Union Chapel. We welcome all members of the congregation at this meeting, although only official Church Members are able to vote. We believe it is important that all members of the congregation join in this meeting, and therefore we offer no alternative activities. A crèche and quiet activities for children are provided. The Ending: A short (no more than five minute) epilogue will conclude our morning in the chapel by 12 noon. |
