All about the Church Weekend...

The "Church Weekend" is a time when those of us who can get away from it all. There are activity sessions which are talks, discussions or workshops. There is plenty of time to relax and talk or go into the surrounding towns or countryside. Musicians form busking groups, others talk and the children rampage through the house and grounds.

25 to 27 Februrary 2005. John Roussel, shadow puppets or similar, topic to be crystallised. John will be with us. He works with groups to help them create their own
stories, for fun or reflection.

'The exciting thing about participatory puppetry is anything can happen.
People find that it is possible to contribute the story making from so many
different angles. There will always be one avenue that they are comfortable
with.'
Groups will make their own shows. Others listening can appreciate the jokes,
before their turn comes. There will be moments to ask each other, are these
stories fact, fiction or pure fabrication? Or more seriously do these
stories help or hinder my search for the quality of life I hear about in the
Gospel stories? Somehow the puppets themselves never seem to get too weighed
down. They often find a way of moving lightly, even in deep waters.
